I need to get support again

Mental health can change over time. You may have had support for your mental health in the past and become well. But new concerns about your mental health can come up. This happens to lots of people. You can get support again.

If you are in a crisis

A crisis is when you are in danger or are very upset. If you are in a crisis, see the Emergency help page for what to do.


Look at your plan

You may have made a plan when you finished with your mental health worker or left hospital. If so, this may have information for what to do if you are worried about your mental health again. This plan may be called a:

  • transfer of care or discharge plan
  • recovery plan. Recovery means getting better so you can do the things you want to do.
  • care plan.

Take a look at your plan and follow the steps if you think this will help you.


Communicate with someone you trust

You can communicate with someone you trust to help you get support. To communicate is how you understand and share your feelings or information. This could be your

  • carer
  • family member
  • friend
  • support worker
  • advocate. An advocate is someone who helps you to speak up and get the support you need.


See your GP or mental health worker

You can make an appointment with your GP or mental health worker if you are worried about your mental health or do not have enough support. A GP is the doctor that you see when are sick or need a health check. A GP is also known as a general practitioner.
